The following $1,500 scholarships, offered by the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE), are available to students who are the children or grandchildren, including foster children and grandchildren, of current and retired NUPGE members. This includes all OPSEU current and retired members.

Tommy Douglas Scholarship
To qualify, applicants must be students entering their first year of full-time studies for the 2018-19 academic year. The postsecondary institution must be public and Canadian.
In addition to completing the application form, applicants must write an essay of 750 to 1,000 words on How Tommy Douglas’s life contributed to making Canada a more just and equitable society.
Terry Fox Memorial Scholarship
To qualify, applicants must be students entering their first year of full-time studies for the 2018-19 academic year. The postsecondary institution must be public and Canadian.
In addition to completing the application form, applicants must write an essay of 750 to 1,000 words on the importance of high-quality public services in enhancing the quality of life of people with disabilities..
Students of Colour Scholarship
To qualify, applicants must be students of colour entering their first year of full-time studies for the 2018-19 academic year. The postsecondary institution must be public and Canadian.
In addition to completing the application form, applicants must write an essay of 750 to 1,000 words on the importance of high-quality public services in enhancing the quality of life of people of colour.
Indigenous Students Scholarship
To qualify, applicants must be Indigenous students entering their first year of full-time studies for the 2018-19 academic year. The postsecondary institution must be public and Canadian.
In addition to completing the application form, applicants must write an essay of 750 to 1,000 words on the importance of high-quality public services in enhancing the quality of life of Indigenous Canadians.
Brian Fudge Memorial Scholarship
To qualify, applicants must be full-time students entering their first year of studies in policing, criminal justice services, community services or health care services for the 2018-19 academic year. The postsecondary institution must be public and Canadian.
In addition to completing the application form, applicants must write an essay of 750 to 1,000 words on the importance of their field of study in delivering public services to Canadians.
