Members of OPSEU Local 540 help women who are marginalized and often live in poverty. They provide services at a 24/7 Drop-in centre. The workers are negotiating their first contract and could be on strike as early as May 17. They are looking for a pay hike after more than 10 years of stagnant wages. They also want improvements to overnight staffing conditions, and employee mental health days in recognition of the vital work that they do.
