The application deadline for the new Amy Stiles Scholarship has now been extended to August 30, 2020.

This $1000 scholarship is open to the dependents of all OPSEU members who are contract faculty at an Ontario College.

Amy Stiles was an OPSEU activist, whose legacy included her work on behalf of her local, her division and her union. Amy was a nursing faculty member at Conestoga, where she worked as the coordinator for the Personal Support Worker program at Riverside Glen in Guelph, and where she conducted a “Living Classroom” with on-site learning for her students.

In 2017, while returning home from a rally at Queen’s Park in support of striking college faculty, Amy was tragically killed in a car accident.

This scholarship is a fitting tribute to the memory of Amy Stiles, as a union activist at Conestoga College, and a defender of workers’ rights.
