Jeff Arbus campaign hits the ground running
Jeff Arbus knows the history of Sault Ste. Marie. The
northern industrial city has voted NDP more often than not in the recent
past, with longtime MPPs as Karl Morin-Strom and Tony Martin, now the area's
MP.
OPSEU Local 613 President Arbus took the NDP nomination in
July has been hard at work reminding voters of this history. The Sault
College professor and OPSEU CAAT Academic activist who help lead the 2006
strike for quality education hopes to revive a tradition and bring another
NDP voice to Queen's Park.
Aside from serving on the last two province-wide faculty
bargaining teams, Jeff has been a strong voice on the Sault Area Labour
Council, among other community activities.
“Voters in Sault Ste Marie know they can count on me and the
NDP to stand up for a fair deal for seniors, children and working people,”
Arbus said.
Arbus is also focused on ensuring children with autism
receive intensive behavioural therapy treatment, and improving long-term
care facilities for seniors.
Arbus faces Liberal incumbent David Orazietti in one of the
more interesting races across the province. The riding hasn't voted
Conservative since the early 80s.
“I’m proud to have this opportunity to stand up for the
working families of Sault Ste Marie,” Arbus said. “I am proud to give a
voice to hard-working Ontario families, and I promise that during this
election I will raise the issues that matter to them.”
