The winners:
Our Ontario's poster and essay contest

In April, Our Ontario announced a contest for children's essays and posters. We wanted children to tell us their vision of Ontario.

These winners will receive $100, to be split between the child and a community program of the child's choice.

Our Ontario should be a place where kids can obtain the determination, freedom, support and a safe atmosphere in order to be what they have dreamed for. Family, friends, and education are probably the three most significant things in which a child seeks positive advice.

For a child to become what they want to become, their centre view of thinking must be clear not confused by stress and anxiety. Additionally, a child must live up to his/her dream and not back away from it.

This all falls under the category of determination. This is probably the only thing nobody should have a say in. Determination comes from the one who is determining if that job is right for that individual.

Secondly, a child should have freedom. In some cases many children do not have the freedom to excel in the future.

The government can promote community programs to help the less fortunate kids so they will be able to strive and achieve their goals. Here, they will have more confidence in themselves and also what they're doing. Another way to make our Ontario a better place is to have a better and safer learning environment, including both home and school.

Conclusion:

Ontario does do a lot for its beloved children. There is always room for improvement and everybody's thoughts shall be shared. By doing this essay, I have added some of my own suggestions to make Ontario a better place for kids. That is probably the main outcome for this essay contesting Ontario has to work as a team to aid every single kid in this province. It doesn't matter if the youth has a disability or has a different nationality, or race. We are all in this province to help each other, not to disgrace and torture one another.

Our Ontario should be a place where kids can receive an education that fits their personal needs.

I'm not saying that every single student in Ontario must get the highest paying job, no matter what it is. I'm not saying that every student in Ontario should be overworked at a level much too high for them. I am saying that every student in Ontario should be able to acquire the proper skills to achieve their own dream.

To do this, schools need things like full-time teachers, smaller classes, and opportunities for gifted or special needs student to receive the extra attention they need. I don't know how we can do this with so many cutbacks on Ontario's school boards, but I know some ways that we've already been using. Like striking (in too many ways for me to list) and other forms of raising awareness, such as this essay contest. With the help of determined parents, teachers and students, some day we will be able to have the same or better opportunities that we had just a few short years ago.

I have a theory that if we under-educate our students by not providing the time and money required, it will be the downfall of Ontario. Think about it. Less education means that there will be fewer university and college graduates. Fewer graduates mean there is less qualified society to do important jobs. When the entire province is qualified to do nothing but manual labour, where do we stand in reputation, money and politics? Dead last.

The future of Ontario is in our hands. Without a safe, healthy environment to work and play in, good food and a proper education, Ontario cannot remain the greatest place to live in the world.
