On April 30, 2001, the Ontario Government introduced Bill 25, the Public Service Statute Law Amendment Act, 2001. The Bill is now law. Bill 25 allows the non-union Ontario Provincial Police Association (OPPA) to apply to be the legal bargaining agent for about 2,500 OPSEU members who:
- report to the Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner or the Chief Firearms Officer, or
- are instructors at the Ontario Police College
OPSEU is holding meetings across the province to keep our members informed about issues that will affect them if they vote to join the OPPA. OPSEU has and is continuing to produce documents and information flyers that outline the key issues.
Questions or comments can be directed to Eileen Wesley, OPSEU Head Office at 1-800-268-7376 ext. 353 or by e-mail at ewesley@opseu.org.
