Ministry of Children and Youth Services
Anti Discrimination Systemic Change Program - Youth Justice Division MCYS
April 21, 2010
The Anti Discrimination Systemic Change (ADSC) Steering
Committee is pleased to announce that a Statement of Ethical Principles has been
agreed to by OPSEU and the employer.
The mandate of the ADSC Committee is to eliminate barriers to
full workplace participation for all Youth Justice Division staff, through the
promotion of positive and supportive measures. The Statement of Ethical
Principles is one of those measures.
The Statement of Ethical Principles is a framework document that
provides guidelines for ethical and professional behavior. Since transferring
out of the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services into the
Ministry of Children and Youth Services, many worksites still have the
“Corrections” Statement of Ethical Principals posted and being utilized. This
“new” Statement of Ethical Principles replaces any previous “Ethical
Statements”.
The ADSC committee thanks members for their continued support.
Several other joint initiatives will be announced shortly.
Members should also be aware that the employer is launching a
Code of Conduct for the Division. The union was not involved in the development
and/or implementation of this Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct was developed
solely by the employer, and it may be disciplinary in nature.
All members are encouraged to view and read the Code of Conduct
so that they understand the implications. We must be vigilant and protect
ourselves at all times.
