April 12,  2011 The Ontario Government has announced the closures of the Owen Sound Jail, the Sarnia Jail, the Walkerton Jail, and the closure of one-third of the Toronto West Detention Centre. The closures undermine the fundamentals of public safety and security and will force families to travel two hours to attend visitation and programming.
