Correctional Officers to honour the fallen

May 2, 2012

Correctional officers from across Ontario will gather at Queen’s Park on Thursday, May 10 to pay tribute to those who have fallen in the line of duty. Officers will assemble on the south lawn of Queen’s Park at 10:30 a.m. and the service will begin at 11 a.m.

After the tribute, members will speak to the impact of the stress and working conditions associated with the job, especially the effect of the Ministry’s Attendance Program and the Ombudsman’s report on the use of force in Ontario’s Correctional facilities. The ministers of both the Ministry of Child and Youth Services and Community Safety and Correctional Services have been invited to attend this service, along with the Conservative and NDP Corrections Critics.

Corrections locals are asked to send as many representatives to this event as possible, in uniform or professional attire. If unable to attend, you can send an e-mail message of support to the contacts below who will read them out at the event.
