The new and revised Systems Officer Class Standard has been finalized and approved by Cabinet. In accordance with the Letter of Understanding that starts on page 188 of the OPS agreement, a new level Systems Officer 6 has been created and the rest of the series has been updated. Copies of the standard and the wage rates for System Officer 6 have been sent to the Regional Offices and MERC Chairs. The union resource group met with the Employer in December 2000 to discuss implementation of the final standard. The group had also met in April and May to review the drafts. Evaluation of individual positions was carried out by Ministries, using updated job descriptions. Some positions may be reclassified to Systems Officer 6, and some positions may be moved within the existing class levels. All reclassifications will be retroactive to January 1, 1999. Employees will receive a letter by mid-March from their ministry telling them whether the classification of their position has changed. Employees whose position has been reclassified will also receive information on their classification changes and how their pay is affected. Employees who think their position may be improperly classified, should request an updated job description from their manager and compare it with the new standard. Payout of salary adjustments and retroactivity to employees who are reclassified is expected to be on March 29, 2001. Payouts on premium payments (eg overtime) will be by separate payment, also expected for March, 2001. | ||
