300 OPSEU members come out for training
Feb. 8, 2008 - Close to 300 OPSEU members have come out to
lunch-time training sessions on the union’s campaign to restore jobs to the
bargaining unit that have been wrongly assigned to AMAPCEO.
Members have learned how to identify, and report to the union,
any positions they believe are being wrongly posted as AMAPCEO.
“Members report they’re seeing a lot of this in the workplace
and there’s a real thirst for information about how to do something about it,”
said inclusions officer Kathleen Demareski, who’s leading the training sessions
with fellow inclusions officer Bill Rudd.
“We are encouraged not only by the participation but also by the
follow-up of completed forms and information,” said Demareski.
The union will use the information to file grievances against
the employer. Locals are to submit their forms to bui@opseu.org
