View Photo Gallery

On May 1, 2012, approximately 1,000 protestors marched down Queen Street after a brief rally at Nathan Phillips Square. The rally and subsequent march were held in protest of wealth inequality and recent government service cuts, as well as the deportation of refugees from Canada.

Planned by three groups, (Occupy Toronto, No One is Illegal, and The May First Movement) the march first went to Alexandra Park, before settling upon Simcoe Park.

In attendance that day was a group of Save Ontario Place campaign supporters, brandishing a huge heart with the words “Ontario Place is our Place” scrawled across it. Save Ontario Place literature was handed out, and Harvey Doogle - the Save Ontario Place mascot – made a guest appearance.

See some of the action in this May Day photo spread.
