Fairness for student workers at Ontario parks
July 7, 2009 This year, the Ontario government will
not give students “pay in lieu” of vacation and for having to work the
statutory holidays. Even though it’s the law for every other employer in the
province to make these payments, the government exempted itself from these
sections of the Employment Standards Act.
This will cost students at Ontario Parks an average of $450
over the course of the summer. more…
Bargaining Unit Integrity Project: Protecting
jobs, building power
 We face an important challenge in the OPS – one that affects our members’ job
security, their career development options, and our power at the bargaining
table. That challenge is the transfer of more and more of our jobs to the
AMAPCEO bargaining unit. We have launched the "Protecting Jobs, Building Power"
campaign to rigorously defend our bargaining unit.
