Corrections Bargaining
Update
Bargaining news from
your OPSEU Corrections bargaining team in the Ontario Public Service
Issue 2 - Sept. 27, 2001
Agreement reached on dispute
resolution
The Corrections Team reached an
agreement with the employer this week on resolving disputes that may
arise in the event that essential services are implemented.
The dispute protocol will be followed
if either side has an issue with essential service agreements that are
only implemented in the event of a strike or lock out.
The Corrections Team was also busy
touring institutions to get a first-hand view on changes that may
affect essential services. This week, the team visited Mimico C.C.,
Toronto Youth Assessment Centre and Maplehurst Complex. Toronto West
D.C. is scheduled for next week.
Return those questionnaires
As part of the process of contacting
locals with respect to essential services, questionnaires were sent
out to worksites in order for the team to gather needed information.
Locals are reminded to complete those questionnaires and return them
to the Corrections Team by no later than Monday, Oct. 1.
Questionnaires should be faxed to (416)
815-1412.

The contest closes this Monday, Oct. 1.
Don’t delay!
Rumours already spreading
Just three weeks into bargaining the
rumours about contract offers are already spreading like wildfire
throughout the corrections division. The most common one to date is
that the government has offered a 12 per cent wage increase over three
years. This, like all of the other rumours that are circulating, is
completely false.
Don’t let yourself get suckered in by
those who claim they are “in the know.” This update will provide
real and timely information as the talks progress. If you don’t read
it here, the information you hear may be exaggerated or incorrect.
Stop the spread of rumours, and read
here for the facts!
