Issue 29 - March 11, 2002
“And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.” - Samuel L. Jackson, Pulp Fiction
(Ezekiel 25:17)
Media blackout ordered
As of 7:30 p.m. on March 10, 2002, Mediator John Mather has ordered a media blackout. Talks continue.
The Corrections Bargaining Team asks that all locals continue to prepare for 12:01 a.m. on Mar. 13. It is also imperative that all locals have their communications links (phone trees, contact lists, etc.) in place and 100 per cent accurate. This is vital for both initiating and stopping actions.
P & P ‘Special Case’ presented
Wayne Pentland, a probation and parole officer from the Barrie office, came down to the OPS Bargaining Centre on Sat., Mar. 9. He presented the P&P Special Case to the Management Board negotiating team.
Wayne is the author of the P&P Special Case. He gave an inspirational presentation to the employer that argued for wage recovery, reclassification and respect for the professionalism of probation workers across the province.
The Corrections Bargaining Team thanks Wayne for his important contribution.
