Strike news from your Corrections Bargaining Team

“United jaws crush the bone” - Kigezi proverb, southwest Uganda
An agreement - thanks to you
The Corrections Bargaining Team wants to take this opportunity to thank each and every member in our category for the immense amount of work and struggle you invested in our new collective agreement.
For 51 days, you put up a fight that was unparalleled in the history of this division. You battled a vicious employer determined to break our ranks. You held picket lines through horrible weather and dangerous circumstances. You withstood daily attacks on our professionalism and morale. You risked your own lives
to quell disturbances that were beyond the abilities of those trying to run our institutions. You sacrificed your health, your safety and, in some cases, your employment to back your bargaining team and your fellow members.
Mere words cannot express our gratitude for what you have done. True, we were the ones physically at the bargaining table. But it was your strength and voices that brought the employer to the table with an agreement that we can all be proud of.
In the days ahead, you will need to keep your strength as we try to undo the last 51 days of damage in our workplaces. Members in this division will be facing some of the worst conditions we have ever known. We know that the experience and professionalism of our members will overcome the difficulties we will
encounter.
United we stand.
