Bargaining 2008

Members to keep up the pressure as talks continue

February 9, 2009

Negotiations continue this week at the Corrections table. The Bargaining Team is meeting with the employer, and will report back as events warrant. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, members of the Corrections Division continue to keep the pressure on the employer in order to get a fair and reasonable contract.

In the days ahead, members will set up information pickets at various Corrections sites and will focus on other OPS sites as well. This should send a message to the government that this fight is for all of the OPS, not just the Corrections Bargaining Unit. Demonstrations at MPPs’ offices are also planned to add pressure on the government.

Dates and locations of these events are NOT being posted for strategic reasons. Members are asked to stay in contact with their local presidents for information. Non-Corrections unit members are also reminded that all actions are directed towards the employer, and they should not be alarmed if an event happens unexpectedly at their worksite.

Remember: Action in the workplace equals action at the bargaining table. Ignore the rumours, and keep up the good work.
