Essential Services talks to begin; Bargaining continues

February 13, 2009

This afternoon, the employer has given notice to the Corrections Bargaining Team that they wish to begin negotiating essential services. This comes despite the Corrections Team continuing to negotiate the members' issues at the table.

The team wants to assure members that bargaining will continue in tandem with essential services talks, and this move does not signal a countdown toward a strike. The team also asks that members continue with actions being taken to support bargaining.

In the meantime, please continue to ignore any rumours in the workplace, particularly those coming from management sources and regardless of how senior those managers are.

Your team will continue to communicate with you as events unfold. Thank you for your ongoing support.
