Kent Cousineau

With sadness, we announce the passing of Kent Cousineau, 33, of Sudbury, an OPSEU member from the Ontario Public Service who worked at the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Brother Cousineau, a fire ranger in the East Fire Region, passed away from injuries sustained in a workplace accident that occurred Friday May 9, 2008 near Killarney.

He passed away May 14 at a Toronto hospital. Kent had been an OPS employee since 2000. The accident is being investigated by the Joint Health and Safety Committee and the Ministry of Labour.

"The fire ranger crew system is a close family, and our thoughts and prayers are with Kent's immediate and extended family and friends," said John MacDonald, President of Kent's local, 623.

Our thoughts are with Kent's family and co-workers.

Visitation is on Sunday May 18 from 2pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm.
