Meeting with Minister of Colleges and Universities
Janice Hagan and Peter
McKeracher, representing CAAT Support and Academic respectively, met with
Minister of Colleges and Universities Chris Bentley on November 1st, 2005.
The Minister focused on tuition issues during this meeting, with OPSEU
representatives turning the discussion to quality of education issues
including the need to address the issue of bargaining rights for part-time
support and academic workers.
The government continues on
its plan to move forward with the deregulation of tuitions.
To date no positive response
has been received on the matter of part-time work in colleges. OPSEU’s
campaign to assure bargaining rights for part-time college workers
continues.
