Canadian Labour says sever ties with Honduras until democracy is restored

July 22, 2009

In a letter to the Canadian government, CLC President Ken Georgetti urged Prime Minister Harper to sever all diplomatic and economic ties with the unconstitutional government of Honduras until democratically elected Manuel Zelaya is reinstated to his rightful position as President of that country.

OPSEU members and staff recently visited community projects as part of a Horizons of Friendship tour to Honduras in February 2009 and our union will also continue to monitor events and add our voice to the call of the Canadian labour movement for more action by our government.
