Larry Cripps Scholarship awarded
The 2006 annual Larry Cripps Scholarship
has been awarded to Alison Jordan of RR 3, Chatsworth.
Alison Jordan, a student at Georgian
College in Owen Sound, submitted the winning essay that outlined her
dedication to the correctional services field and commitment to
publicly-run correctional facilities. Her father, Steve Jordan, is a
member of OPSEU Local 250 at the Owen Sound Jail.
“Alison is a positive role model and will
have a huge impact on the community once she completes her education,”
said Leah Casselman, president of OPSEU.

The first annual Larry Cripps Scholarship has
been awarded to Georgetown resident Scott Logan. The Humber College
student is the son of Lesley Logan, Local 234.
The $2,000 scholarship is awarded every year
to students of law enforcement or corrections, in memory of Larry Cripps,
a provincial correctional officer who died in 2004. Applicants must be
dependents of OPSEU members.
Scott Logan submitted the winning essay that
outlined his dedication to the law enforcement field and commitment to
publicly-run correctional facilities.
