Correctional officers to rally outside HWDC August 23

(HAMILTON) – Correctional officers from across Ontario will rally Aug. 23 on the grounds outside the Hamilton-Wentworth Detention Centre in a show of support for more than 200 officers at the facility who are in a prolonged dispute with management over proposed disciplinary measures. The workers, represented by Local 248 of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, are challenging disciplinary measures the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services wants to impose on the correctional officers following a dispute over safety measures inside HWDC.
