(HAMILTON) – Correctional officers from across Ontario will rally Aug. 23 on the grounds outside the
Hamilton-Wentworth Detention Centre in a show of support for more than 200 officers at the facility who are in a prolonged
dispute with management over proposed disciplinary measures. The workers, represented by Local 248 of the Ontario Public
Service Employees Union, are challenging disciplinary measures the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services
wants to impose on the correctional officers following a dispute over safety measures inside HWDC.
