Toronto West correctional officers plan info picket Aug. 16 to protest unjust firing of local union leader

August 14, 2012

(TORONTO) – Correctional officers at Toronto West Detention Centre have planned a three-hour information picket Aug. 16 to protest the unjust dismissal of Dan Marshall, president of Local 517 represented by the Ontario Public Service Union, and two others at the facility.

The union says the firing diverts attention from serious problems of overcrowding, understaffing and violence against correctional officers at the West Toronto Detention Centre.
