OPSEU workers at Surex Community Services reach tentative agreement

OPSEU Local 5102 developmental services workers at Surex Community Services have reached a tentative agreement just over a day before a strike deadline of 12:01 a.m., December 22.

"The Local 5102 bargaining team showed real teamwork and solidarity getting this tentative agreement," said OPSEU President, Warren (Smokey) Thomas. "They have my congratulations for negotiating right down to the wire with a difficult employer."

"We are recommending that our members vote to ratify this agreement," said Robert Tracey, a member of the Local 5102 bargaining team.

A ratification vote is taking place at 11:00 a.m. on January 7, 2012 at 2265 Midland Ave., Unit #1, in Toronto.

The rally that was planned for Wednesday, December 21st, has been called off.

Surex Community Services workers provide care, support and training to adults with developmental disabilities.
