Striking NOSM members from Sudbury to join colleagues on Thunder Bay picket line

 

(THUNDER BAY – October 27, 2010) – In a demonstration of solidarity, a busload of members from the Laurentian University campus of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine in Sudbury will travel to Thunder Bay tomorrow and join their colleagues on the picket line at Lakehead University.

"Our members have been on strike for more than two months and have received great support from the community. The rally tomorrow is an opportunity for our members at Lakehead and Laurentian universities to join together in a show of support for each other," said Tyler England, chair of the bargaining team for Local 677 representing more than 130 workers NOSM.  "The union is seeking a fair and respectable offer from NOSM management and we are anticipating a positive round of negotiations next week," said England .

The rally starts at 11:30 at Lakehead University. 

Local labour activists have said they will join the NOSM workers at the rally in Thunder Bay in a show of solidarity
