PARRY SOUND - Negotiators representing social service
workers in the District of Parry Sound have reached a tentative
agreement with their employer and have unanimously recommended that
members ratify the offer.
The agreement was reached late Monday night. A
ratification vote is scheduled for March 12.
“The employer finally came to the negotiating table with
the intent to negotiate seriously. That made the difference in reaching
a settlement,” said Local 324 president Linda Smith, representing 140
full- and part-time OPSEU members who work for Ontario Works, Social
Housing, Esprit Place Family Resource Centre, and licensed Child Care
Resources in the District.
The tentative agreement calls for wage and vacation
improvements along with gains in the supplementary pregnancy program.
