Media Advisory: Public forums to fight cuts to Quinte Health Care

March 6, 2009

Public forums are being organized across the region to pressure the province to fund community hospitals.

The Ontario Public Service Union (OPSEU) is working with the Ontario Health Coalition and other community partners to pressure the McGuinty government to abandon its plan to underfund hospitals to force mergers, divestments and ration needed health services.

Fact-based presentations will explode many of the myths the McGuinty government is promoting to carry out an agenda of cuts and privatization. Ontario is the only province in Canada carrying out an aggressive agenda of cuts to its hospital sector.

There will also be some discussion on how the community can continue to keep up the pressure.
