Warren (Smokey) Thomas on a tour of the Toronto (Don) Jail.

In a letter earlier this month, Thomas invited all three
Ontario party leaders to view first-hand the working conditions in one
of the province’s most overcrowded facilities. Mr. Hampton was the only
leader to take the union up on the offer.
Thomas will be available to speak to the media at the
conclusion of the tour.
OPSEU represents over 6,000 corrections workers in
Ontario, supervising inmates in facilities and in the community.
Corrections workers are currently in bargaining for a new contract. The
previous collective agreement expired on Dec. 31, 2008.
