OPSEU President to tour Owen Sound Jail

OWEN SOUND – Warren (Smokey) Thomas, President of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, will tour the Owen Sound Jail and discuss ongoing corrections issues with the members there.

DATE: Tuesday, February 24, 2009

TIME: 5 p.m.

LOCATION: Owen Sound Jail 1237 Third Ave. E. Owen Sound

Thomas will be available to speak to the media at the conclusion of the tour.

OPSEU represents over 6,000 corrections workers in Ontario, supervising inmates in facilities and in the community. Corrections workers are currently in bargaining for a new contract. The previous collective agreement expired on Dec. 31, 2008.
