TIMMINS - The Ontario Public Service Employees Union will open a new office to better serve its 2,400 members in Timmins and surrounding areas.

OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas and First Vice-President/Treasurer Patty Rout will be in Timmins for the grand opening. Tom Laughren, Mayor of Timmins, and MPP Gilles Bisson are among the invited guests.

Media are invited to attend the opening:

When: Friday Sept. 12, 2:30 p.m.

Where: 414 Algonquin, Unit 1 - rear entrance

"Whether they work in the Ontario Public Service, the colleges, the hospitals, the LCBO, or in other public sector work, OPSEU members make a tremendous contribution to the North East," said Thomas. "With this new office, these OPSEU members will have a better place to meet and do union business."

OPSEU represents about 130,000 public employees working in communities across Ontario. These include about 2,400 in the Timmins service area; of these workers, about two-thirds are women.
