TORONTO - By mutual agreement with the employer, the union bargaining team for security officers at the Metro Toronto Housing Authority has extended its strike deadline by 24 hours.

The 190 security staff, members of Local 592 of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, will now strike at 12:01 a.m. Nov. 16 if they are unable to negotiate a new collective agreement before then.

The union and the employer have agreed to a NEWS BLACKOUT on details of the negotiations.

The current collective agreement expired June 30, 1998.
