OPSEU calls on hospital board to rectify deteriorating relationship with staff

THUNDER BAY - The Ontario Public Service Employees Union is calling on the board of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre to rectify deteriorating conditions for staff at the hospital.

TBRHSC has more than 700 outstanding grievances filed by the union and more than 120 Ministry of Labour orders, many related to health and safety concerns.

“The hospital has demonstrated a flagrant disregard for staff and their safety,” says OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas.

Thomas and Rout are touring the facility today with OPSEU’s executive board and members of the TBRHSC local.

Thomas and OPSEU First Vice-President Patty Rout will be speaking to the media today on working conditions at the hospital.
