The 45 students are members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU). Speakers from the Windsor and District Labour Council, the University of Windsor Faculty Association, campus unions and student associations will join the strikers in calling on Dr. Paul to demand that the employer return to the bargaining table and halt the use of “replacement workers” against U of W students. The Corporation operates the duty free store under a “business partnership” with the University, which holds the store’s licence and helps the store recruit student employees. Despite repeated attempts to re-start contract talks, the Ambassador Bridge Corporation has refused to respond to contract proposals table by the OPSEU bargaining team.
