Tentative
agreement reached in College support bargaining
TORONTO--The union representing
Ontario College support workers has reached a tentative
agreement with the employer.
“Our bargaining team is pleased
to have a deal we can recommend to our members,” said Rod
Bemister, chair of bargaining for the Ontario Public Service
Employees Union’s 6,500 college support workers.
“This deal includes the five
key outstanding items our members told us they needed,”
Bemister said. It includes:
- A three-year agreement
expiring Aug. 31, 2008.
- A three per cent staged wage
increase in each of the three years of the agreement.
- A recognition allowance of
$400 for those who have completed 10 years of service.
- Withdrawal of the wages and
benefits comparison letter.
- Improved time off for union
business.
The agreement also includes a
drug benefits card.
The full text of the tentative
agreement will be available at
www.opseu.org tomorrow. A ratification vote will be held
as soon as it can be arranged with the College Relations
Commission.
