OPSEU welcomes health care support workers at York Central Hospital
RICHMOND HILL: The Ontario Public Service Employees Union welcomes about 370 new members who work at York Central Hospital.
The health care support staff at YCH voted overwhelmingly Nov. 1 to join OPSEU.
“We are very pleased at the results of this vote. It’s a big step forward for these new members who are going to be joining OPSEU’s strong, dynamic network of health care workers,” said Leah Casselman, OPSEU President.
“OPSEU will work hard, together with the members of this new bargaining unit, to achieve a collective agreement that will enhance working conditions and protect their rights.”
OPSEU, representing about 30,000 workers in all areas of health care, is in the forefront of the struggle to keep health care publicly funded and managed. The union is fighting against the Smitherman Liberal agenda to contract out services and force layoffs in the hospital sector.
