PENETANGUISHENE - The union representing correctional officers at Canada's first privatized adult correctional facility has reached a tentative agreement with the employer for their first collective agreement.
Sean Wilson, a correctional officer and bargaining team member for OPSEU Local 369, says that he is pleased with the outcome of the negotiations.
"We have unanimously recommended that the members accept this contract," Wilson said. "All of our outstanding issues have been addressed, and we feel it is a good deal for our members."
Details of the one-year agreement will not be released until employees have a chance to review the tentative offer. Members will get the details at the ratification vote meeting being held on Thursday, March 11, 2004 in Midland.
