Niagara College cafeteria workers back on the job

FONTHILL – Niagara College cafeteria workers, members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, have ended their 21-day strike after ratifying a deal with Aramark Canada Ltd. Sunday.

The workers won a 12.6 per cent wage increase over three years.

“Our members mobilized support for their cause and won a big improvement over the employer’s previous offer,” said OPSEU staff representative Gary Adams. “We thank Niagara College students and staff for their support because we couldn’t have done this without them.”

The 27 full- and part-time employees returned to work this morning.

Niagara College contracts with Aramark to provide food services at their Niagara-on-the-Lake and Welland campuses.
