TORONTO - Ontario Public Service Employees Union President Leah Casselman will boycott the bogus “TV budget” Thursday afternoon by not attending the “lockup.” Casselman will be at Queen’s Park 4-6 p.m. for an Ontario Federation of Labour briefing on the “budget” and will be available for comment. “Our members are thoroughly disgusted by this government’s disregard for the traditions of our democracy,” said Casselman. “In so doing, they are treating the citizens of Ontario the way they treat their own employees, with extreme disrespect. This is a huge miscalculation - the beginning of the end for this government.” OPSEU members in the Ministry of Finance resent being forced to violate their sworn oath of non-partisanship to work on a partisan election document, the union says. Casselman called on Premier Eves to listen to the media, the opposition, constitutional experts and several of his own MPPs. “There’s still time to present your budget to the Legislative Assembly, as required by tradition, then call an election immediately so the people of Ontario can pass judgement.” -30- For further information:
