CCAC strikers plan
"celebration"
HAMILTON – OPSEU members on strike against the Hamilton Wentworth
Community Care Access Centre in Hamilton will hold a rally to mark the
end of their second week on the picket lines.
Billed as a celebration of community health and solidarity among
community health providers, it will feature speakers from neighbouring
CCACs and the Hamilton and District Labour Council. Area MPPs will
also be represented.
The Rally and Celebration is set for:
Tuesday, October 24
5 p.m.
310 Limeridge Road West
(office of the CCAC)
"We want to draw attention to the broader issues behind our
strike," said Local 274 president Pam Clarke. "The whole
field of community health is under-funded. We’re a vital part of the
health care system, but we are mandated to do it completely on the
cheap. It’s just not right."
