Tentative agreement at Hamilton-Wentworth Community Care Access Centre

HAMILTON -- Striking members of Local 274 of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union have reached a tentative collective agreement in negotiations with the Hamilton-Wentworth Community Care Access Centre.

The union bargaining team is unanimous in recommending that members ratify the deal, reached after a nine-week strike that began Oct. 10. Details of the settlement will not be released pending results of a ratification vote set for Thursday, Dec. 14 at 10:00 a.m.

The 200 staff are case managers and placement coordinators -- nurses, social workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians -- and support staff who coordinate the in-home care of about 10,000 patients per day in the Hamilton-Wentworth region.
