Walkerton still needs our help

News this week of more illness due to E. coli bacteria in Walkerton are a reminder that people there still need our help. Many OPSEU members and locals have already made donations to OPSEU’s Walkerton Fund; more is needed.

“Despite all the publicity, despite all of us who have called on this government to come to the aid of the people of Walkerton, it is still unclear who is going to foot the bill for this terrible tragedy,” said OPSEU president Leah Casselman. “It may still be months before Walkerton’s water is safe to drink. People there need all the help they can get.”

Donations can be made at any Bank of Montreal in Ontario, with cheques made payable to the OPSEU Walkerton Fund, account number 0032-8097467. Cheques can also be sent directly to the OPSEU Owen Sound Regional Office at 1038 2nd Avenue East, Owen Sound, Ontario N4K 2H7.

Proceeds will be presented in early September.
