New Local Presidents Course
April 8, 2010
This two-day workshop provides an orientation for newly elected OPSEU local presidents to their leadership roles within the union.
Day one helps local presidents navigate OPSEU’s organizational structure, systems and resources. Local presidents will also focus on building an involved membership through stewards, bargaining, equity as an everyday local issue, and local bylaws.
Day two focuses on mobilizing the local through contract enforcement, health and safety, effective communication, inclusive leadership, and a strategic approach to employer tactics. We explore practical leadership responses to everyday situations through group work and interaction with the other local presidents.
