This two-day workshop provides an orientation for OPSEU local
presidents to their leadership roles within the union.
Day one
helps local presidents navigate OPSEU’s organizational structure,
systems and resources. Local presidents will also focus on building
an involved membership through their stewards, contract enforcement,
bargaining contracts, and equity as an everyday local issue.
Day two focuses on mobilizing the local through health and safety,
effective communication, inclusive leadership, effective local
by-laws, and a strategic approach to employer tactics. We explore
practical leadership responses to everyday situations through group
work and interaction with the other local presidents.
