Centrally-Run Local Treasurers’ Course
A centrally-hosted Local Treasurers’ Course will be run in March
2010.
Dates: Tuesday March 30, 9:00-5:00
Wednesday March 31, 9:00-3:00
Location: 100 Lesmill Road, Toronto
The Course
The course was developed jointly by the Accounting Department
and the Training and Development Unit. It invites Local Treasurers to the
union’s central office for a hands-on, practical look at effective financial
management of a local. The course clarifies the local treasurer’s roles and
responsibilities, basic policy and procedures, how the money works, the
accounting systems, and how to develop and present a budget in the local.
Treasurers will find they are not alone in their questions of
how to fulfill their responsibilities effectively. They will learn from other
local treasurers as well as from facilitators.

note that this course is also run regionally, and that there are now two trained
facilitators available in each region to provide the course. You can also
call your regional office for a copy of the Local Treasurers Toolkit. This
is a practical resource just recently developed, designed to give new, local
treasurers immediate support before they get to the Local Treasurers’ Course.
