Collective Bargaining: Bulletins

Why vote "NO" to the employer's offer?
Your bargaining team is asking you to reject LCBO management's offer. Here's why:
Because your job could be toast!
The employer wants to take away our no-layoff guarantee for permanent employees. They want to reduce our protection against job losses to agency stores - and provide no protection for casuals. Their offer on contracting out would protect only current permanent full-time warehouse staff. With
privatization back on the agenda, management's offer is a threat to every member's job - yours included.
Because it's a raw deal for casuals!
The employer is refusing to increase the minimum shift for casuals to four hours. The union is demanding the four-hour minimum and other scheduling improvements so more casuals can qualify for permanent jobs.
Because you can kiss goodbye to seasonal status!
Management's offer keeps major barriers to seasonal status for casuals in logistics. The union's proposal for conversion after 600 hours in a six-month period is a lot more fair and realistic.
Because tiered wages are a rip-off!
The employer wants to pay new hires a lot less than current employees. This would affect all new casuals, new seasonal and permanent Warehouse Worker 3s and new permanent Store Clerk 3s. Letting management create a group of cheap, second-class employees is unfair - and it would make us ALL
vulnerable.
Because a better deal IS possible!
The LCBO can afford a fair deal. By voting "No" to the employer's offer - and authorizing a strike, if necessary - you can give our team the bargaining power to return to the table and get a better deal that addresses your needs. Remember: "Together we bargain, divided we beg."
