Ratification vote set for July 13-14
Team asks for an enthusiastic YES!
OPSEU members in the Liquor Board Employees Division will vote
July 13-14 on a new contract. The union bargaining team is recommending
unanimously that members approve the tentative deal signed June 24.
“This tentative agreement is very, very strong, with gains for
every member and no takeaways,” says LBED bargaining team chair Vanda Klumper.
“Our team has no hesitation in asking members for an enthusiastic YES vote to
approve this contract.”
Complete details of the tentative agreement are in
Bargaining Bulletin #14,
dated June 25 and available online at
www.opseu.org . The web site also includes the 34-page Memorandum of
Agreement signed between OPSEU and the LCBO.
Info meetings are July 6-10
The union will hold information meetings about the tentative
agreement during the week of July 6 – 10. At least one member of the union
bargaining team will attend each meeting.
As noted above, the vote itself will take place on July 13-14
from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Schedules for the meetings, plus vote times and locations, will
be available this week on the OPSEU web site at
www.opseu.org/lbed/collective.htm. On the right-hand side of the page, click
on the buttons called “Information Meetings” and “Ratification Vote Schedule.”
A simple question
Here is the question that will be on the ballot for LBED members
voting in the July 13-14 ratification vote:
□Yes, I approve the tentative
settlement.
□No, I reject the tentative
settlement.
A note on casual availability
The tentative agreement signed on June 24 makes mention of
“Retail Division Casual Employee Scheduling & Availability Guidelines.”
The LCBO has always had scheduling and availability guidelines
for use by managers. Last week, the employer happened to provide them to the
union. Please note: These guidelines are NOT part of the tentative agreement.
OPSEU members are NOT voting to accept or reject these guidelines as part of the
overall settlement.
For information only, the guidelines are posted online at
