TITLE: RESEARCH ASSISTANT

LOCATION: Research Unit, 100 Lesmill Road, Toronto

REPORTING TO: Supervisor, Research, Benefits & Equity

SALARY: $1,341.00 to $1,525.00 per week (Range 3, Appendix A)

WORKING CONDITIONS: As provided in the OPSSU Collective Agreement

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

Under the general direction of Supervisor, Research, Benefits, Equity, handles all phases of research. Duties to include but not limited to:

  • Investigates and gathers research data, interprets and analyzes data and provides specialized data/information to appropriate individuals/teams/organization/negotiations.

  • Develops and maintains electronic Collective Agreement library

  • Acts as research liaison for NUPGE and other labour organizations.

  • Maintains, updates and accesses Collective Agreement Tracking database and protocols.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires an honours degree in (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) and two years related work experience as well as demonstrated commitment to Labour/Social Democratic Philosophy.

  • Requires formal and informal updating.  Uses Microsoft Office 97, Word, Excel, Access Collective Agreement database, membership database, Internet, Laserfiche.
