TITLE: SENIOR ACCOUNTING CLERK

LOCATION: Accounting Unit Operational Services Division, 100 Lesmill Road, Toronto

REPORTING TO: Accountant

SALARY: $1,141 to $1,192.00 per week

WORKING CONDITIONS: As provided in the OPSSU Collective Agreement

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

Under the general direction of the Accountant, co-ordinates budget preparation for OPSEU and all departments. Provides costing services to the organization and assists in other daily operations, duties to include but are not limited to:

  • Provides costing information for all departments.

  • Assists in budget preparation for OPSEU and all departments.

  • Checks monthly departmental statements and financial for coding and accuracy.

  • Prepares analysis upon request to support reports from the Accounting Department.

  • Analyzes and processes various accounts and breakdown of monthly charge-backs.

  • Accrues, analyzes and requests payment of time off for MDTs/Temps and Teams.

  • Prepares monthly reports for the Executive Officers and Board Meetings.

  • Analyzes and prepares monthly Committee and Team reports.

  • Reconciles general ledger accounts.

  • Prepares Section “F” for Convention annually.

  • Assists in the preparation of Convention materials.

  • Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires a University Degree and completion of Level 3 CMA/CGA or equivalent (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) and two years of related work experience.

  • Requires formal and informal updating in Board policy and OPSSU/ASU Collective Agreements and software packages.

  • Uses Windows 98/XP, Microsoft Word, Excel, Email, Internet, E by Epicor and Unionware.

  • Requires an understanding of Labour/Social Democratic philosophy.

  • Requires in-depth knowledge of operation, policy and procedures of Accounting Department and an in-depth knowledge of the financial structure and operations of OPSEU and all departments.
