Province-Wide Health and Safety Workshops
The Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) and the Workers Health and Safety Centre (WHSC) are offering free 3 hour workshops for health and safety representatives and committee members in 30 communities across Ontario between April 25 -June 17, 2005.
Although the sessions are geared towards workers who are members of joint health and safety committees (JHSCs)or workplace health and safety representatives, they are open to all workers interested in learning more about how to exercise their rights to improve health and safety conditions in the workplace.
Participants will discuss:
· Joint health and safety committees' functions and powers
· changes to provincial and federal health and safety enforcement tools (legislation, regulations, standards, benchmarks and anything else a Ministry of Labour Inspector might consider
· Recent court and Labour Relations Board cases
· New research in the field of occupational health and safety
